VANCOUVER — Camas defense shut out Evergreen Friday beating them 14-0 in five innings during a cold, misty and sometimes windy game. Camas pitcher Sean McClanahan did a stellar job on the mound, and was relieved by Drew Watson late in the game.

The Papermaker offense was on fire, as well, with most players hitting and scoring runs, including some deep hits by Sam Jones and Brennan Dyehouse. McKinley LeFore was hit twice at bat — the second time at his helmet.

The Papermakers bested Evergreen Friday night at McKenzie Stadium 4-1 during a cold, misty match. The boys played well and will compete against Union Tuesday at 7 pm at Doc Harris Stadium.

Camas High School baseball hosted Battle Ground Thursday afternoon in a rescheduled game (Wednesday was a rain out).

The Varsity baseball team beat Battle Ground 2-1. Tyler Hallead pitched a complete game allowing no earned runs while striking out five. Spencer Hunt had an RBI single in the 5th to give the team a 2-0 advantage. Tyler Hows had two hits in the game to lead the offense.

The JV Papermakers won 13-4.

Both teams face Evergreen today at 4 pm in Vancouver. Thank you to Camas Athletics for providing information.

Smiles & Hope.

This photo was taken at a Camas High School “Friday Night Lights” game in Fall 2012. Doesn’t he just put a smile on your face and give one hope for a bright future?

We don’t know who he is, but thanks future Camas High Papermaker for making our day brighter.

Spring is here and it is time to do some spring cleaning.

Its spring and most of us do some sort of spring cleaning around the house. All that trash that blew into your yard and the branches that feel down, the things that accumulated in the garage and the house. All of that needs to be cleaned out. Well debris has collected in your body as well. Between all the goodies over the holidays and the weather impacting our exercise routine, we have accumulated a bit of junk in our body too. So it is time to do a spring cleanse/detox.

We all have toxins in our body, some more than others. Do you have any of the following symptoms?

Sugar cravings, fatigue, itching, hives, heart burn, gas, bloating, bad breath, constipation, irritable bowel, don’t sleep well, acne, weight gain despite diet and exercise, joint pain, muscle cramps, PMS.

These are just a few of the symptoms I see as your toxic load builds up.

Come join me for my biannual detox. I do this detox twice a year myself. If I don’t detox in the spring and the fall, I start craving sugar and gain weight.

Camas Little League/Majors Reds player Zach Convey stunned fans Tuesday at his team’s season opener against the Athletic’s by hitting a grand slam in the middle of the game.

With bases loaded, Convey crushed the ball just over the fence — to the jubilation of his team and fans. The Reds were behind 5-2 and Convey’s hit moved the score to 6-5 Reds, which would be the final score.

“I couldn’t believe it,” said Convey.

Athletics manager Doug Williams is happy for Convey, although, of course he wanted the win. “I’m just happy for Zach — these things don’t happen very often. Good for him.”

Congratulations, Zach!

Camas LAX Attackman Austin Garwood tries to overcome
an aggressive Skyline defense.

The Camas Lacrosse boys struggled to overcome Division 1 Skyline Monday night at Doc Harris Stadium, losing 7-13 in a game that saw an aggressive fourth quarter offense by Camas.

The Camas boys started off slowly and weren’t able to catch up – despite some valiant efforts. Skyline was fast, agile and scored quickly.

Zach Quist (#11) scored Camas’ first goal, with an assist from Austin Garwood.

In the second quarter, Bradley Stanchfield (#21) scored the team’s second goal, unassisted.

Skyline said at halftime that Camas was the best challenge they’ve seen in a while.

Camas LAX player Bryce Tabbut (#12) scored goals in the second quarter.

At the end of the third quarter, Camas was behind 9-4, but Tabbut scored Camas’ fifth goal four minutes into the fourth. It was an aggressive, clean shot.

Skyline quickly responded with a goal of their own, making it 10-5 – and so it continued. Tabbut scored another, making it 10-6, and soon after Skyline would put three more on the board, making it 6-13.

Grayson Windle (#22) scored Camas’ last goal of the night, making the final score 13-7.

Camas LAX President, Pam George, said, “It was a tough team to play. They’re a Division 1 team and said our team was a good challenge for them.”

The Camas High School Varsity baseball team lost 8-3 yesterday to Skyview.  Dylan White hit a 3-run homerun to give the team a brief lead in the 3rd inning.  Nolan Hunt pitched four strong innings to keep the game close, but a three-run sixth inning by Skyview broke the game open.

The CHS JV team also played Skyview losing 5-0 as the Papermakers couldn’t regain momentum after an early game rally by their opponent. The boys made a real effort to score, but it wasn’t meant to be.
The Varsity Softball game against La Salle Prep didn’t happen, as they were a no-show. Papermaker Lena Richards said she and her team were ready to play, but La Salle simply didn’t come.

Thank you to Marcia Johnson, of the Camas Athletics Office, for providing information.
