First Friday – March 6th, 2020, come to Downtown Camas and celebrate Go Green. Pick up a special passport and activity list at the Journey Community Church at 304 NE 4th Avenue.

Lucky leprechauns, a “Green Zone” featuring local schools, businesses and non-profits that care for the environment, and the wearing of green will all be a part of this fun event. The event runs from 5-8 pm.

Here’s what’s going on downtown for First Friday:

  • “Find the Lucky Leprechaun”: Each participating merchant will have a “lucky leprechaun” in their business, and for every leprechaun you find, you receive a prize ticket to be entered to win green prizes and more from the merchants. Lucky leprechaun “passports” can be found in participating stores and at the DCA table in Journey.
  • Wander through the “Green Zone” at Journey church and learn how easy it is to make this world a greener place with fun educational kid-friendly activities and giveaways provided by local nonprofits. This year we will have: World Vision, Master Gardners, Eartha the Clown, Ivy League, Waste Connections, CHS Green Team, IQ Credit Union, and Camp Windy Hill.

For First Friday, May 3rd, we will have a “Garden Gnome & Fairy Gala” in honor of the Camas Plant & Garden Fair the next week! 5-8pm with so much going on!

Find those mischievous gnomes and cute fairies in each participating location and see what kind of fun each is having! You’ll earn tickets to win great prizes for each location you go to!

  • Have a talent? Come share at Journey’s very first “Open Mic Night” during First Friday. Sing a song. Play guitar. Do a comedy skit or stand up. Camas, WA — Chocolate treats, fun themed activities, art shows, crafts, games,  prizes, and more will all be a part of this 12th annual “A Chocolate Affair to Remember” First Friday event in Downtown Camas on February 1.

Downtown businesses will be serving and selling chocolate goodies and other romantic gifts with wine tastings and specials at select locations, as well. The event, from 5-8pm, is hosted by the Downtown Camas Association (DCA) and downtown merchants.

In addition to the fun that is traditionally had at this First Friday event, this year there will also be a celebration of the First Anniversary of the First Friday Wedding of Nick & Tami Calais. The wedding was held on February First Friday 2018 in Downtown Camas and was themed “A Wedding Affair to Remember.” The community was invited and it was a strong example of people supporting each other, loving our town and coming together in community.

The evening’s activities include:

  • Guess the candy jar amounts in each participating location and be entered to win the candy and other great Valentine’s themed prizes!
  • Find “Nick & Tami” and get your picture taken with them and be entered to win a romance prize basket.
  • Art receptions with refreshments and live music: Attic Gallery; featuring Camas artist Mike Smith and a jewelry trunk show with Leslie McMillan who will be showcasing hearts in silver leaf and contrasting metals for Valentine’s Day; Camas Gallery featuring painter Gary Watson and complimentary sangria and champagne; and Second Story Gallery upstairs at the Camas library featuring 24 artists in the show “From the Heart”.

Camas, WA — Come enjoy artists in Downtown Camas painting our town! During the day on September 7th from 9 am-4 pm, local artists will be doing painting around town. So fun to watch! Then vote for your favorite during the First Friday event from 5-8pm.

The finished plein air art pieces will be on display at the Camas Gallery, 408 NE 4th, from 5-8 pm that evening. The community will vote for its favorites and “People Choice Awards” will be given. Camas, WA — The Downtown Camas March First Friday begins March 2 at 5 pm and it’s recommended you pick up a “green” passport and activity list at Journey Church, which is located 304 NE 4th Avenue.

First Friday’s “Go Green!” theme includes Lucky leprechauns, Eartha the Clown, a “Green Zone” featuring local green schools, green businesses and non-profits that care for the environment, and the wearing of the green will all be a part of this fun event. The event runs from 5-8 pm.

Camas Gallery will feature local artists Heidi Curley and Tom Relth, who will perform a Collaborative Duo.

The two artists will stand face-to-face with easels between, working on to two large canvas/panels.

”I’m excited to see what the final product will be,” said Curley. “Every 15 minutes we will switch back and forth and will do that throughout the whole evening. We want people to come and talk to us.”

Camas Gallery spokesperson said, “We are excited to watch as the artists’ works unfold. It will be a very fun and engaging evening.”

The works will be for sale and will hang in the gallery for the month of March.

  • Eartha the Clown and her cockatoo “Major” will be here to meet families, take pictures, and do education about the environment. 5:30-7:30 pm, walking around town if the weather is nice or near the DCA table at Journey Church, 304 NE 4th.

Camas High School “Green Team” will be there doing fun recycled art activities with the kids. The Green Team advisor is Ali Coker who has been named a 2018 Green Award Winner by Clark County for excellence in “green” education. Miranda and Ian from Mandi MOON Artistry will there to do leprechaun and shamrock airbrush tattoos!

  • Second Story Gallery – “Chasing Iceland” is the name photographer Daniel Ionashku gives his new show at Second Story Gallery. Join them for a photography unveiling from 5-8 pm, see Iceland through the eyes of Ionashku.
    Attic Gallery – Will feature an art show “All About Horses” with new pastel paintings by Janey Belozer (who will be attending the Opening Reception), Mike Smith, Anna Wiancko-Chasman and Carol Grigg.
  • Elida Art Studio & Gallery will feature Katelyn Rediske, a Senior at Camas High School, who has explored some pretty intense themes and topics that teenagers struggle with in a creative way by using her “pop art” style of painting. This is a solo show and is part of her Senior Class Project. Make time to visit the studio.
  • “Ribbon Cutting Party” at 5 pm for Vancouver Laser Skin Care Clinic, including refreshments, giveaways and prizes. 715 NE 5th Ave. Come see all that they do here!
  • Merchants will have “green lists” in their windows showing all the ways our downtown businesses care for the environment.
  • “Green” Kids’ crafts at the DCA tables!
  • Customers wearing green get an extra prize ticket—if they wear a green hat, they get three!

Camas July First Friday | July 7 5-8 pm

July’s First Friday is a fun celebration of dogs! July 7th, 5-8pm. Doggie talent show with prizes and new this year, a parade sponsored by Miss Nola’s Cafe with a Mardi Gras theme in honor of the Barkus Parade at Mardi Gras! How fun! There will be Cajun Zydeco music as well by The Mudbugs from 5:30-7:30pm compliments of Miss Nola’s!

Vendors, kids’ crafts with a mardi gras dog theme, a dog breed guessing activity in participating businesses, and more! There will also be a dog and owner look-alike contest! Bring your favorite pooch (leashes required) and make a fun night of it! Parade and music sponsored by Miss Nola’s Cafe and talent and look alike contests sponsored by Naturally Healthy Pet in Downtown Camas.

The Doggie Talent Show & Dog & Owner Look Alike Contest will be at 6pm and the Camas Barkus Parade will be at 7pm. There will be judging of best costumes in the parade with prizes for “Most Original”, “Cutest”, and “Most Mardi Gras Inspired”. For the Talent Contest, the judging will be for “Most Clever”, “Most difficult”, and “Cutest” Talents. Sign up when you get to First Friday at the DCA table, up to 15 minutes before each event. The contests, parade, crafts and other fun will be between 4th and 5th on Cedar Street. No cost to enter.

Camas First Friday in July has a dog theme.

Camas Car Show | July 8 4-8:30 pm

Come stroll the beautiful streets of historic Downtown Camas and enjoy the many classic and custom cars and trucks that fill the town. Old favorites and new discoveries in this 12th annual event. Always an exceptionally fun time! This is a great event for any car enthusiast.

This event will be held on Saturday, July 8th, 2017 from 4-8:30pm.

Admission is FREE to spectators.

Awards will include Best in Show, People’s Choice and Sponsors’ Picks. Best in Show award will be presented by Camas Mayor Scott Higgins and Best in Show car will be featured on next year’s Camas Car Show poster and promotions! Goodie bags to first 100 cars and dash plaques to first 200 cars.

Raffles, live music by Bluez Cruizer, dance by the Virtuosity Performing Arts Studio at 6pm and other family friendly entertainment including face painting and balloon art!

Glory Days will be at the show with Camas Car Show T-shirts this year!4th and Birch

Kids’ Coloring Contest! Color a cool car pic for a chance to win fun prizes–three age categories: 3-6 years, 7-10, and 11-14. Winners will be announced right before car awards. Every child that participates receives a free hot wheels car :)!

Camas Little League All-Stars | July 8 @ 1 pm

The Camas LL 11/12 All-Star Baseball team competes with Fort Vancouver in Game 2 of their District 4 Tournament, at David Douglas Park in Vancouver. The game begins at 1 pm.

The boys beat Cascade 13-3 in four innings during Game 1 on July 6.

The theme for this month’s Downtown Camas First Friday is “Treat Yourself Right” and you’ll be able to explore the many ways to do just that with health, beauty and wellness specialists on hand tonight. You’ll also be able to enjoy live music, art and wine.
